Founded in 2019 by Paul Belyea, Rite Life follows the humanism philosophy based upon human dignity, compassion, ethics, rational thought, respect for the environment, and appreciation of the arts. As a humanist officiant, we are licensed under Humanist Canada and strive to be promote that values of Humanism.

Our vibe

The idea of saying one’s vows in a space that resonates with meaning for each individual, that virtually anywhere can be the location of one’s special day, is liberating. And guiding my practice by the core tenets of Humanism matches my vibrational energies.

Our story

When I first accepted a lunch invitation from my dear friends Kenny and Chenny back in 2017, they had one simple question for me – “Can you do our wedding?” Confused, intrigued, and excited to be part of my friends’ special day, I asked one simple question back – “What does that mean?”

I had no idea that this lunch would lead to the creation of Rite Life today.

Our story

I had no idea that this lunch would lead to the creation of Rite Life today.

Our method

We put you first, and aim to take the stress out of ceremony planning. We learn about you and your relationship. Through sharing personal stories and memories, we work together to create the perfect wedding vows for your ceremony.

I’m paul belyea — Over my lifetime, I’ve worn many hats – Event Coordinator. DJ and MC. Even a Crossing Guard. Yet, the most rewarding has definitely been a Licenced Humanist Canada Officiant.

Although I initially became a Humanist Canada Officiant solely through the special request of my friends Kenny and Chenny, the foundations of humanist philosophy have always been the guiding principles for how I live my life, including my own relationship and marriage.

It’s been over 20 years since my partner and I were married by a Humanist Officiant in our favourite restaurant, Noce, on Queen Street West! Although some of the details of the day blur together, what stands out the most is the care, compassion and detail the Humanist Officiant placed in delivering a truly unique wedding ceremony that reflected our own values, traditions and personalities..
