    THOUGHTS ON OUR EXPERIENCE

"Thank you for making our day so wonderful! It was truly a fantastic experience."

    – Ruppi and Maddie, past clients

We gave Paul carte blanche to write the ceremony and our vows and what he came back with blew our minds – we didn’t edit a single word because it was perfect.

    – Leisha Vaughan-Humphreys

"From the moment we met Paul, we instantly felt at ease. We couldn't have asked for a more caring and professional officiant to guide us through our ceremony. Thank you Paul!

    – Riley McNair and Alexander Sims

“You made the whole process smooth for us, even though pressed for time. You were professional, detailed and punctual, and will definitely recommend you to anyone who needs a wedding officiant. Keep in touch and best regards always!"

    – Jasmin and Ramil

    how it works

    01

    Planning

We will get on a call to see if we’re the right fit! We’ll talk about location, timing, custom vows, special readings, and more! Based on your wants, needs and nice to haves, I’ll prepare a sample ceremony for you to review which will be followed up with revisions and edit sessions to produce the final draft.

    02

    Performance

With your wedding day right around the corner, we finalise the ceremony and confirm the day of details. Then comes the performance of your personalised wedding ceremony by your Humanist Canada Officiant!

    03

    Paperwork

After the ceremony, we will collect all the required signatures in the marriage register, submit your wedding licence to the Registrar General and provide you with a Record of Solemnization.

    frequently asked questions

A special day as perfect as I can do for you.

    Q. Does Rite Life write custom vows for our ceremony?

Yes – As part of our ceremony services, Rite Life will help you create the perfect vows that reflect your own values, traditions and personalities. We will also include any personal readings or vows you’ve prepared into the final ceremony!

    Q. Who is responsible for acquiring the wedding licence?

While Rite Life handles the paperwork and legalisation of your marriage, the couple is responsible for securing their wedding licence. Without a wedding licence, we are unable to perform the ceremony. A wedding licence can be acquired at any town hall, in any municipality in Ontario. Everything you need to know about Getting Married and marriage licences can be found here.

    Q. What’s the average length of a Rite Life humanist ceremony?

Every ceremony performed by Rite Life is as unique as the couple getting married. While the average length of our ceremonies is around 10 – 12 minutes, we’ve performed speedy ceremonies (5 minutes) and some a bit longer (30 minutes).

    Q. I have a wedding planner. Can we still work with Rite Life?

Yes! Having a wedding planner helps streamline the creative and communication process and we are happy to work with them to create your perfect marriage moment.

    Q. Do you perform Rite Life ceremonies at any type of venue?

Yes – With the exception of religious grounds, we will perform your wedding ceremony at any venue you wish within the Toronto area. Some past Rite Life experiences have included locations such as a glade inside the Don Valley, a Pier at Beaches, on a boat in the Toronto Harbor, at the Broadview Hotel, the history Graydon Hall, Canoe restaurant and even a backyard at Bayview and Eglinton.

    Q. What happens if Rite Life is unable to perform the ceremony?

In the rare circumstance that Rite Life is unable to perform the ceremony, our process is to reach out to other Toronto area Humanist Officiants to provide a replacement Humanist Officiant for your special day. The show must go on!

    Q. Can we write our own vows?

Certainly, everything that comes from the heart is beautiful and moving. The guests are all there to see you and hear your words. Your vows will most certainly be the most moving thin the crowd will hear all day. But, please do not feel any pressure, writing and speaking your own vows are strictly optional.

    Q. What if we want readings?

Virtually any and every reading is encouraged, although optional. Some couples have a part of a favourite song or an especially dear poem they want to have read. Either your Officiant or anyone you wish can be invited to the podium to perform the reading. However, please note that any readings of a religious nature must be read by someone else.

Share laughs. Make memories. Legalise your relationship.
